Dangerous Games

Everyday’s but just a game. Just play along.

Liverpool vs Chelsea

I’m really excited about this match

Staying up for the match tonight. Means I’m not gonna get much sleep. Which means I’ll probably look like I’m dying during work tomorrow. And I have to attend a workshop at Changi tomorrow. Staying awake during the workshop will be a big problem. Good thing it lasts only 2 hours. Just absorb whatever I can and the rest will be left to doodlings in my notebook or something.

Look, I’m not trying to be an ass but when you’re a Liverpool fan you gotta give it for this kind of match. Champion’s League Semi-Finals! Who would’ve thought Liverpool could make it? All the work and effort that the guys have put in, it’s gonna show today. The showdown between Liverpool and Chelsea. Rafael Benitez and Jose Mourinho. Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. Milan Baros and Petr Cech. Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia and Didier Drogba.

So will Liverpool win? There are a few deciding factors:

  1. Rafael Benitez’s tactic against Mourinho’s side tonight is a major factor. Will he go on the offensive and search for fast and early goals that will put Liverpool ahead and risk a counter attack that could devastate Liverpool’s chances?
  2. Steven Gerrard. Will he perform? The pillar in Liverpool’s midfield. Looking at the stunning goal he made over the weekend, we know the spark is still in him. The fire, the passion, the determination and the will to fight for the club as the Captain of the Reds. He will have to put aside all the controversy about his rumours with the Blue side and focus on this game that he has called the defining moment in his career if the Reds were to win the championship this year.
  3. The absence of Xabi Alonso, Arjen Robben and Damien Duff. Of which the latter 2 are not confirmed. All 3 are crucial players for the various clubs and their absence could make a big difference for either side.
  4. And finally The KOP. Tonight’s game will be played at Anfield. The home of Liverpool. And for all the KOP out there, there’s always one thing we know. The support during home games are overwhelming, so much so that people call the Liverpool supporters the 12th player. It keeps the spirit of Liverpool players up and piles on the pressure on the opposition. And one thing’s for sure, Chelsea’s in for SHIT bigtime tonight courtesy to their manager’s antics during previous games at Anfield.

For all the KOP out there. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
